These were granted after his service as Governor of Gibraltar, and show a
variant of the classic Durie chevron and crescents with a Campbell gyronny of eight, with allusions to the rock of Gibraltar and a motto which reflects both the rock and Sir David's Christian faith. |

Robert Durie of Durie in the 16th Century, and earlier
Duries, with the addition of a triple-towered abbey. This is taken from the Arms
of Bruce's home town, Kirkcaldy, previously Abbotshall parish, which was owned
by Dunfermline Abbey. |
