Henry (Kemp) Durie of Thomastoun
Husband of Jonet Durie
(Bef. 1532-Apr 1575), daughter of Robert Durie of that Ilk.
Henry Kemp of Thomastoun (ca. 1521-Bet. 1562-1566)
was a drinking pal of King James V and Master of the Bedchamber, who took the
name Durie on marriage in order to preserve the entail.
Jonet was the one with the title, lands, money and pedigree, so her surname
was preserved by marrying someone prepared to change his.
It is unclear how willingly Jonet was "persuaded" to marry Kemp.

Robert Durie of Durie or more details.
